A MAZE. jumps a bit closer and is officially EXTENDED – by the DMY International Design Festival Berlin 2009.

|| First Step ||

The focus of A MAZE. First Step lies on breaking established game design ideas and to display innovative approaches. After a period of discussion of the need for larger budgets, more complex teams and extensive marketing campaigns, ‘indie-designers’ are showing that small teams with fresh ideas can create successful titles. Game designers as creatives are proving themsevles again. In addition to the works of Susigames, Leif Rumbke and GOTO80, the exhibition shows creations of students of the degree programs European Media Studies (FH/Uni Potsdam), Game Design (MD.H, Berlin) and of the Digital Class (UdK, Berlin). The A MAZE. First Step Award will be given by a jury consisting of experienced artists and curators to those embodying the courage of experimentation. The international symposium on game design principles and aesthetics of computer games provides the event with a theoretical fundament. The end of the week will be celebrated with a special A MAZE.
